This problem has spiraled out of control. It's a total fiasco. We've tried everything to fix it, but nothing seems to work. At this point, it feels like we're doomed. Honestly, I don't know what else to do. This is a train wreck of epic proportions.
This is So Bad, It's Funny (Not Really)
Sometimes you encounter situations so horrifically bad that you can't help but burst out chuckling. It's like your brain tries to process the sheer magnitude of destruction and just resigns itself to fate, opting for laughter as a coping strategy.
But then, you realize that it's not really actually that amusing. It's just plain bad. And the laughter you were experiencing morphs into a wistful, melancholic sound.
In the end, you are left with a sense of confusion. You start ruminating about the nature of it all. Was this a joke?
Or were we just simply unfortunate enough to witness this spectacle unfold?

The earthquake struck without warning, destroying entire towns in its sweep. Buildings crumbled like sandcastles, and the screams that erupted was deafening. Awful Day Ever
It all started with the case of bedhead hair. I couldn't make it to look decent. As I was dashing out the click here door, I fell and spilled all over my new shoes. To make matters worse, I was completely running behind for work.

It all started out terribly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then it went from bad to absolutely terrible. A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to run away and hide.
